Our Vision For Our Permanent Location

 

Create

• - An art room will provide creative art exploration opportunities at all times, such as an ongoing mural, use of varied art supplies for beading, mosaics, collage, finger painting, coloring, painting, drawing and more.

• - Specific art classes will also be provided.

• - Indoor and/or Outdoor gardening area will be available.

 

Connect

• - Meet others who have shared a similar experience.

• - A place for friends to be together.

• - Area for parents/caregivers to explore resources, meet and relax with others.

 

Play

• - Age appropriate play spaces for children and teens.

• - Areas where clients and their friends can play or simply be together.

 

Learn

• - Academic support will be available for clients. Areas addressed may include: organizational strategies, homework help, time management strategies for making up missed school assignments, and assistance in facing new learning challenges.

 

Move

• - Yoga classes.

• - A space for music and dance.

• - Theater Arts.

 

Be

• - Quiet, meditative room with varied tools for relaxation.

• - Lounge area for teens.

 

Central to the focus of Our Space is the belief that creating and using one’s hands is healing and restores spirit. Our Space is also guided by the belief that people thrive and are supported in an environment where they can connect to people going through a similar experience. Our Space is unique in providing a place for children and teens facing or overcoming cancer that is outside of the hospital setting.
